Founded in 1993 by Jim Westerman, the company has grown from humble beginnings to become a leading provider of bespoke modular homes across Queensland and New South Wales.
The story of Westbuilt Homes began when Jim Westerman left his position at a modular home company in Brisbane and relocated to Warwick to start his own general building contractor company, Westbuilt Quality Homes. By mid-1994, Jim had completed his first modular home in Stanthorpe, QLD, quickly establishing a reputation for high-quality, affordable, and custom-built homes.
In 2003, Westbuilt Homes made a strategic decision to focus exclusively on relocatable and modular homes, significantly expanding into the manufactured and system-built home market. This period of growth saw the company’s staff increase from three to seven members, with Jim’s sons, David, Michael, and Richard joining the business to support its expanding operations.
In 2011, Westbuilt Homes briefly ventured into the commercial and mining markets with Westbuilt Modular. However, the downturn in the mining market led to the discontinuation of this arm of the business in 2012. This setback did not deter the company’s growth. Instead, it marked a new beginning with the establishment of a state-of-the-art factory at Project St, Warwick. This facility, designed around the LEAN manufacturing method, enabled Westbuilt to offer homes with superior quality, more inclusions, and reduced waste.
Refocusing on their core strength of building custom modular homes, Westbuilt Homes has since continued to thrive. By 2019, the company expanded its team to include a dedicated in-house drafter and an additional salesperson, further enhancing their capacity to deliver exceptional homes tailored to their clients’ needs.
Today, Westbuilt Homes boasts a sales and administration team of eight staff members and a factory carpentry team of twelve full-time carpenters, welders, plasterers, and tilers. Their continued commitment to quality and an effective customer relationship management strategy has solidified their position as a preferred builder of custom modular homes.
